Description
Melanotan-2 is a cyclic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone: Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2, molecular weight near 1024 Da.
A lactam bridge between the aspartate and lysine side chains locks the backbone into a constrained conformation, which resists peptidase cleavage and holds the pharmacophore in the geometry that melanocortin receptors recognise. Linear α-MSH analogues are far less stable.
MT-2 is non-selective. It agonises melanocortin receptors across the family rather than discriminating between them, which makes it the reference compound when research needs activity across the receptor family rather than at one subtype. Melanogenesis and MC1R-linked pigment signalling are the endpoints it appears in most often.
PT-141 is the compound to compare it against, and the relationship is closer than most people expect. PT-141 is the deaminated derivative of this molecule, and a likely metabolite of it: the same ring scaffold, differing at a single terminal position where the C-terminal amide becomes a free carboxylic acid. That one change shifts the receptor selectivity profile, which is why the two are separate products rather than substitutes.
KPV approaches α-MSH from the opposite direction: it reproduces the hormone’s C-terminal tripeptide and carries none of the melanocortin receptor activity.
Supplied as a lyophilised powder at ≥99% purity by HPLC, with batch LC-MS identity confirmation and a certificate of analysis. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. Store the sealed vial at -20°C and keep reconstituted solution at 2-8°C, protected from light.

Frequently asked questions
What is Melanotan-2?
Melanotan-2 is a synthetic α-MSH analogue and melanocortin-receptor agonist. Researchers study it in melanogenesis, or pigmentation, research.
Which pathways does research examine?
Studies focus on Melanotan II's broad melanocortin-receptor activity and the pigmentation-related signalling it triggers. These are laboratory findings, not human-use claims.
Is Melanotan-2 lab-tested?
A U.S. laboratory verifies every batch for purity, identity, and peptide content using HPLC and LC-MS analysis. We deliver securely across Bali and accept all major payment methods.
How do I store it?
Reconstitute the lyophilised powder with bacteriostatic water, store it refrigerated at 2–8°C, and use it within about four weeks. Keep unmixed vials cool and out of direct light.
