Description
Epithalon, also written Epitalon, is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, usually shortened to AEDG. Four residues, which makes it one of the smallest compounds in this catalogue.
Its design is derived rather than invented. Vladimir Khavinson’s laboratory at the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology synthesised it from the amino acid composition of Epithalamin, a bovine pineal gland extract, on the reasoning that a defined short sequence could reproduce activity attributed to the crude extract. Roughly 25 years of in vitro, in vivo and in silico work has followed.
The telomerase literature is what draws most attention. Epithalon has been reported to activate telomerase and elongate telomeres in human cell culture, and that finding saw an independent replication at Brunel University London in 2025.
One limit deserves stating directly: whether the cell-culture effect translates to telomerase activation in living human tissue has not been established. No completed human trial has measured telomere length before and after administration under controlled conditions. The compound holds no regulatory approval for human use anywhere. Researchers working on telomere biology should treat the in-vitro result as an in-vitro result.
Other published work covers gene expression and protein synthesis during neurogenesis, melatonin rhythm, and antioxidant and antimutagenic endpoints in animal models.

Frequently asked questions
What is Epitalon?
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on the pineal peptide epithalamin. Researchers study it in longevity research.
What is Epitalon studied for?
Researchers examine its proposed role in telomerase activity and in circadian and endocrine signalling. These are laboratory findings only.
Is Epitalon lab-tested?
A U.S. laboratory verifies every batch for purity, identity, and peptide content using HPLC and LC-MS analysis. We deliver securely across Bali and accept all major payment methods.
How do I store it?
Reconstitute the lyophilised powder with bacteriostatic water, store it refrigerated at 2–8°C, and use it within about four weeks. Keep unmixed vials cool and out of direct light.
